8 Great … Human-Monster Romances

http://www.movies.com/movie-news/new-news/8-great-human-monster-romances/5384?wssac=164&wssaffid=news

The successful Twilight franchise begins its victory lap with the upcoming release of the first of two Breaking Dawn movies, and whether you love or hate these sparkly-boy-meets-lip-biting-girl romances, the idea of a human falling in love with a non-human creature has a rich and varied history at the movies. (Although with rare exceptions like My Stepmother is an Alien, such films are almost always about female homo sapiens falling for men of a completely different species, which is no doubt fodder for someone's doctoral thesis.) Here's a list of some classic movies about pretty ladies and the strange creatures who love them; tell us your favorite girl-and-ghoul flicks in the comments section.

Jennifer Lawrence, Other Teens Prepare to Battle to the Death in New ‘Hunger Games’ Trailer

http://www.fandango.com/movieblog/?wssaffid=11841&wssac=123#686978

The brand spanking new Hunger Games trailer premiered this morning on Good Morning America, and it definitely packs a larger punch than that first initial teaser. This one does a great job of setting up the premise — which involves groups of kids from several Districts who are forced to fight one another to the death — while not giving away too much. Jennifer Lawrence looks strong in the role as the film’s lead, Katniss, and the trailer essentially follows her and Peeta’s (Josh Hutcherson) story up until the point where they enter the arena.
Based on the ridiculously popular novel (which has sold more than 16 million copies worldwide), fans of the property should like what they see here. The dark, grim reality of a society that makes children fight to the death seems to be present,…

The Hunger Games: Trailer

http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/the-hunger-games/trailer
Trailer for The Hunger Games courtesy of Apple.

Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.

Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

The Iron Lady UK Trailer Premieres: Meryl Streep is Margaret Thatcher

http://www.moviefanatic.com/2011/11/the-iron-lady-uk-trailer-premieres-meryl-streep-is-margaret-that/

Since film fans first heard of the casting of Meryl Streep as the former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, all were abuzz. Are you kidding me — the Oscar winner as the first female PM in Britain’s history? Cue the Oscar talk! The Iron Lady poster premiere only further fanned that fire. And judging by the first trailer from The Iron Lady, it is more than warranted.

Streep nails nuances better than any actress of her generation and any since. The powerful story that is Maggie Thatcher’s is one worthy of a biopic to say the least. We are counting the days until December 30 when the film bows in U.S. theaters.

‘Hunger Games’ Trailer: Are You Lost?

Hunger Games

“The Hunger Games” trailer is here, and by the look of things, the odds are ever in your favor… if you know what you’re looking at, that is.

For fans of Suzanne Collins’ novels, this is the best look yet at the Jennifer Lawrence starring adaptation. Having read the book, I’m very happy with the outcome. But those of you who haven’t read “The Hunger Games,” I can imagine some head-scratching over the new trailer.

The most extensive “Hunger Games” look yet, this new trailer still manages to keep a tight lid on the best surprises the story has to offer while still giving plenty of teases worth chewing on, like the ceremonial Reaping, Katniss and her fellow tributes getting ready at the Training Center, a pep talk from Woody Harrelson as Haymitch and more. It’s just enough that the educated “Hunger Games” fan gets to see familiar characters and beats, but not so much that the greatest moments have been blown or even hinted at ahead of the movie’s release.

That said, I’m not sure that the trailer is user-friendly for a viewer who hasn’t read the books. You could make the very fair argument that the trailer doesn’t clearly outline what the Games are, why they exist, or the rules of the competition (other than Katniss’ brief mention that there can only be one winner). If you don’t know what “Hunger Games” is about going into the trailer, I’m not sure that you’re going to walk away any clearer on the subject.

If you’re one of the many who has yet to be exposed to “Hunger Games,” did this trailer clear anything up for you, or are you still in the dark? Let us know in the comments section and on Twitter!

How Many Times Was ‘The Force’ Said During the ‘Star Wars’ Franchise? (VIDEO)

http://blog.moviefone.com/2011/11/14/star-wars-the-force-video/

If you’ve ever wondered how many times the phrase “The Force” was said in all six ‘Star Wars’ movies, boy have we got a special gift for you. A generous YouTube user named dondrapersayswhat (the same person behind the ‘Steve Buscemi Deaths Supercut”) has stitched together every utterance of the words “The Force” from each ‘Star Wars.’ From our count, the number is at 91, which — to be honest — is a lot less than initially assumed (it’s entirely possible “Don” missed out on a few). Either way — and we never thought we’d say this — this clip may make you sick of “The Force,” Jar Jar Binks-style. Watch at your own risk ahead.
